From the looks of it, everything’s on the menu, and I’m not just talking about the occasional berry- and lemon-adorned frocks and skirts—though those will be robust and plentiful. “This summer, it's a lot of lobsters, sardines and oysters,” PureWow Fashion Editor Abby Hepworth tells me, noting that Italian food—specifically seafood—is bound to make a splash on T-shirts, skirts, dresses, you name it. Per insights from ASOS and Madé Lapuerta (the data analysis queen behind Data, But Make It Fashion), searches for butter yellow on the retailer’s site increased by 98 percent over the month of May—as seen on Lapuerta’s reel—suggesting to me that this is just the beginning for the golden shade. When Hepworth and I got to chatting about it, we couldn’t help but notice that while the new “It” shade of the summer is all anyone can talk about, we have yet to see it take off IRL beyond the Andie Anderson-inspired How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days yellow frocks brightening our social feeds. Depending on your undertones and skin color, the sunny shade can be difficult to pull off, so don’t feel pressured to make like a stick of butter. Accessories, like bags, earrings, scarves or shoes provide an easy way to lean into the trend without fully committing before you know how to feel.

While you might not think they boast a ton of support for your gals, there are plenty of options that incorporate smocked backs or elastic bands along the interior to stay put. One of the easiest ways to wear this look is by investing in a full-length strapless blouse—preferably a lightweight linen—which will elongate your frame and make you look chic as can be. With no color analysis of my own to guide me, I’ve gravitated towards warm tones for most of my life, but as I’ve incorporated white gold and sterling silver into the mix, I’m surprised with how much I prefer it to its gold counterpart. Seeing Sophia Richie Grainge, Hailey Bieber and other celebrities adopt the mixed metal trend this past year makes me question the age-old fashion faux pas in the first place.

It’s time to channel your inner Audrey Hepburn with this next summer trend. Major fashion houses, from Prada to Carolina Herrera, incorporated some rendition of the ‘50s-esque full skirt in previous runway collections, and while it may have taken some time for this to translate in everyday wear, I anticipate we’ll see plenty of flouncy, plush cotton skirts everywhere for summer 2024, especially long maxis and midis but also bubble minis, too. My Instagram and TikTok feeds have been inundated with full skirts of all sorts styled with crop tops, baby tees, vests and strapless silhouettes. I’ve spotted model-turned-designer Elsa Hosk dress her white midi skirt down with some sporty Adidas Sambas, and it looked simply divine.
