6 Micro Trends from Fashion Month We Can’t Wait to Wear This Spring (Including 1 Inspired by Victoria Beckham)

This hot hue is still going strong after September’s Fashion Month showings. Many street style stars opted for small pops—socks, ballet flats, hair bows, handbags—but there were also plenty of folks wearing bright red skirts, tops and even coats. The beauty of this trend is that you can wear it in whatever way feels easiest to you. My personal favorite is to add two small splashes, one near the top of your outfit (lipstick, scrunchie, sunglasses) and one near the bottom (shoes, socks, anklet).

Fixed bows, of all sizes, seem to be replacing rosettes as the most popular statement detail for 2024—even Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez are fans. If you really want to make an impact, try a dress or top with an oversize bow collar or off-the-shoulder neckline. Then again, hairbows, dainty string ties and other smaller variations are every bit as cute, and perhaps easier to work in with your existing wardrobe.

We first noticed this clever trend during New York Fashion Week, but it continued to show up again in London, Milan and Paris. Honestly, I’ve loved this trick for easy transitional dressing for years now. If you get cold while out and about, you now have an extra layer you can slip on under your coat, and if you get hot you can simply drape your knit over your shoulders once more. And, yes, you can absolutely wear two sweaters at once in the name of fashion.

Handbag trends seem to be occupying two ends of the extreme right now—either super-sleek, minimalist silhouettes, or bags that feel unique, even if newly purchased. It was the latter that really grabbed my attention this past month, with showgoers toting kitschy styles and vintage handbags (many from the Y2K era) that demanded attention. So go forth and dig out any and all older bags you’ve had stuck in storage, or embrace the fun of a statement purse with a brand new style entirely your own.

Monochrome outfits are a pretty foolproof way to look chic and put-together with minimal effort, and every time Fashion Month rolls around there’s always one particular hue that seems to get the monochrome treatment more than any other. This time it was winter white and shades of cream. If you want to try this one out for yourself, don’t stress too much about trying to get all your white pieces to match exactly. It’s much easier to mix and match slightly different colors if they also have different textures, so try to incorporate multiple fabrics and materials into your fit.  

Some fashion insiders predicted motocross influences as a leading trend for 2024, but I have to admit, I didn’t think it would stick. So imagine my surprise when I saw not just one or two, but lots of showgoers rocking Formula 1-inspired stripes and colorblocked leather this past month. If you’re not yet ready to go all in with a motocross jacket of your own, try dipping your toe with a T-shirt or pair of sporty sunglasses instead.
