Beige Hair, Hot Taki Red & 23 Spring Hair Colors to Usher In the New Season

1. Texan Hair

Our experts are seeing the return of va va volume. Thanks to trends like Cowboy Core and Mob Wife Aesthetic, voluminous layers are going to be huge this season. As Cisneros explains, “To get the most volume, your stylist will need to add layers throughout to create a lot more lift at the roots. You also want to add dimension, even if it’s subtle, to give hair depth and help showcase the volume of the hairstyle.” In order to maintain the look, use a blow dryer and round brush and focus on lifting at the roots for bouncier locks. Just don’t forget to apply some hairspray to set the look in place.

2. '90s Supermodel Layers

The ‘90s spawned some of the most iconic looks and this model-approved hairstyle is on the top of the list. “This style has been around for a very long time. Think about the iconic Victoria’s Secret ‘fresh out of the salon’ hair with heavy layers framing the face,” says Henderson. The steps to styling this look are simple: Apply a volumizing mousse on wet hair before using a blow dryer and round brush to create soft bends throughout the hair. Then, use a one- to two-inch barrel iron to curl each section. Henderson adds, “Set the curls with a pin or hair rollers to cool. Once your hair has cooled, remove the pins (or rollers) and apply hairspray before brushing out the curls for a voluminous blowout.”

3. Choppy Micro Bob

Similar to the Italian bob, this newer version has been seen on celebs like Lucy Hale, Gabrielle Union and Jenna Dewan. As Keasling explains, “This playful bob features textured ends and a length that sits just above the chin. It offers effortless style and versatility and is perfect for those seeking a low maintenance cut that still packs a punch.” Prefer a sleeker style? Apply a heat protector and run a straightener through each section. Want a more tousled appearance? Use some texturizing spray and let your hair air dry to enhance your natural texture.

4. French Girl Fringe

Trendsetters like Zoë Kravitz and Zendaya are already rocking French Girl Fringe, so prepare to see it even more over the next couple of months. “The wispy fringe adds a touch of French girl chic to any hairstyle and it’s surprisingly versatile,” shares Keasling. “It pairs nicely with a short pixie cut with sharp lines, a cropped back and sides and the wispy feathered bangs.” FYI: Bangs are not one-size-fits-all, so Keasling recommends consulting with your stylist to tailor the fringe to fit your face shape, hair type and style before making the cut.

5. Piecey Bangs

Another style of fringe we think is going to be a hit this spring? Piecey bangs. “These are bangs that look somewhat blunt when brushed down and forward but can also have separation and offer peeks of the forehead when styled in its natural state,” says Kayganich. “Bangs are having a really good moment. We are seeing a lot of the same silhouettes stay trendy for haircuts—shags, mullets, curly cuts, bobs—so adding piecey fringe is an easy way to switch up your style.” The expert says the fringe looks best on straight and wavy hair, and a balm or a wax is all you need to style them.

6. Box Bob

This modern bob became internet famous last summer and it remains a top requested style at salons. “It’s a perfect cut if you’re looking to reinvent yourself, and with the cut ending at chin length, it’s especially great as we move into the warmer months,” says Cutler. “It’s not an A-line cut, but it’s a little longer in the front for a French-inspired look, so you can texturize the cut to create movement to the outer layers.” Use styling cream before blowing out your hair to accentuate the cut. Then, finish it off with a spray wax to enhance your natural texture.

7. Curly Shag

The shag will always be a great option for switching your hair up and here’s one for the curly girlies out there. Cutler shares, “It’s a throwback to the ‘70s shag, but the difference is there is more blending of the layers and it’s a little softer overall. The cut is super easy to maintain and it’s perfect for spring, especially in the warm weather and humidity.” Cutler suggests applying texturizing spray (or a paste and hair oil combo) to embrace your natural texture and give your new shag a lived-in feel.

8. Short Wolf Cut

The ‘wolf cut’ has been around for a while, but it’s getting a few inches shorter for spring. “This trend embodies the casual energy of young people, emphasizing not taking yourself too seriously and showing off an androgynous look that is super popular right now. It also offers practical hairstyle options that don't require the use of blow dryers, curling irons or straighteners,” says Cavalcante. Since it’s a low-maintenance look, Cavalcante suggests using mousse to add volume and a soft hold. Or you can grab gel for a more ‘wet’ look that will help accentuate your pattern without weighing down your locks.

9. Old Money Bob

Old Money Blonde’ is already turning heads this year, so adding the bob version of the aesthetic hits the jackpot. As Korab explains, “This is a soft flowy bob with a sharp perimeter and minimal external layers. The blowout is the key to achieving this style.” A blow dryer and a round brush are your go-to tools to getting the bouncy blowout. “These tools will give you the best finish and create the volume and movement needed to maintain the look,” she adds.

10. Mid-Length Cuts

Don’t want to cut your hair into a bob? Demi Lovato and Lori Harvey show us that mid-length styles are also on the rise this spring. “In 2023, we saw a lot of short haircuts such as Italian bobs, mullets, pixies, etc. I feel like this spring, we’re going to see all these cuts grow out and usher in a wave of mid-length styles,” says Priano. “As a stylist, I love an above-the-chest, blunt cut with minimal layering. It’s modern, it’s easy to style any way you like and it looks super chic.”

11. Hydro Bob

Jennifer Lopez debuted this trendy bob during Paris Fashion Week and we haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Coined the ‘Hydro Bob,’ we have a feeling it’s sticking around for the season. “This style consists of slicked-back hair with a slightly wet appearance. We were seeing it everywhere at Paris Fall/Winter shows, so I can see it continuing through the summer,” says Patterson. What’s the salon secret to perfecting the ‘wet’ look at home? Apply styling cream before blow drying and flat ironing your hair. Then, add a glossy oil for extra shine. Patterson adds, “You want to work in the products section by section, combing your hair into shape, as you work up the style. This bob is fairly simple and doesn’t involve products that will leave your hair feeling crunchy.”
