Historically Dallas has been thought of as a big hair, big heels type of town. And while we won’t deny that there is a time and a place for both, these days we’re seeing styles shift far from the Texas trends of yesteryear and into something far more contemporary. From crisp button-downs to sophisticated slippers, these styles are so chic, y’all. Here’s what everyone in Dallas is wearing this spring.

1. Easy Breezy Caftans
It makes sense that in a place that’s known for being hot and humid, women are rocking a loosely fit and freely flowing style. But fashionable Dallasites are elevating the historically casual staple by opting for daring patterns and bedazzled frocks that will take you from brunch to the bar. We’ve particularly seen loud and fun styles on the streets (we’re big fans of the La Vie Style House shimmery number pictured above) but even the coyest fashion queens are rocking simple black or white numbers and jazzing them up with long necklaces, open toe heels and leather belts.
Shop the look: La Vie Style House Mini Caftan ($650), Free People Maxi Kaftan ($98), Tory Burch Caftan ($350)
2. Bold Boots
Boots are back. Well in truth, they never really left. But this season, stylish Dallasites are giving the southern staple a bedazzled spin and we’re here for it. We credit the revamp to stylish sisters Lizzie and Sarah who grew up on a West Texas cattle ranch and launched bespoke boot brand Miron Crosby (see swoonworthy pic above). We love the option to add stars, hearts, glitters and more on these custom creations, but even if you don’t have the time or budget for something personalized, we think every Dallas girl should have a classic pair in black or brown with a fun fair that speaks to their personality (see our Zara pick below)
Shop the look: Miron Crosby Molly Gold Metallic Python ($3,195), City Boots Red and Bone Heart Boot ($1,450), Zara Contrasting Flame Cowboy Boots ($119)
3. Wide-Brimmed Straw Hats
News to no one: Summers are really freakin’ hot in Texas. And the sun’s not something you can combat without the right accessories. Which is why we’re embracing chic headwear that also protects from those brutal UV rays as well. An oversized straw hat is ideal since it protects your face, neck and shoulders, plus strikes the right balance of floppiness and structure. Translation? These are the headpieces we’ll be wearing on spring break, commuting to the office and for our friend’s BBQ.
Shop the look: J. Crew Summer Hat ($70), Tuckernut Dolce Hat ($139), Furtalk Sun Hat ($23)
4. Crisp Buttons-Ups
A spring in Dallas means preparing for all four seasons and so you just can’t deny the versatility of a crisp, button up shirt. Chilly? Add a cardigan and a belt bag and you’re off to carpool. Warm? Wear this breezy beauty with shorts and some Golden Goose sneakers. Really, really warm? Throw this over a white one piece and drive as fast as you can to Cedar Creek Lake. The possibilities are endless, and we need those kinds of options in our lives.
Shop the look: Zara 100 Percent Linen Shirt ($50, Everlane Silky Relaxed Shirt ($85), Double R Custom Shirt (prices vary)
5. Sophisticated Slippers
Men and women alike continue to go gaga over chic slippers that elevate your look and this season is the perfect time to flaunt those sophisticated styles. From tartan to floral and everything in between, sleek sleds allow you to showcase your mood or personality using high quality fabrics and showstopping designs, while maintaining a high level of comfort. We’re fans of the Dallas brand Hadleigh and their shoes that feature their signature logo (two men shaking hands), but there are plenty more sophisticated picks around.
Shop the look: Hadleigh’s Liberty Daisy Print Signature Slipper ($595), Tod’s Leather Embellished Slipper ($775), Tory Burch Ballet Loafer ($378)
6. Buildable Bangles
What do you call a bangle if you just have one? That would be called a lonely bracelet. And in Dallas, we are all about stacking on as many bangles as our pretty little arms can handle. Think of your signature style as the sundae, and bangles as the delicious cherry on top. A ‘fit finale, if you will. We love the offerings by Dallas-based Gresham Jewelry because they can be dressed up or down and are made of stretchy silicone to allow you to swim, sweat, shower and even wrangle the kiddos without messing them up. What’s your stacking style?
Shop the look: Gresham Jewelry La Tua Storia Letter Bracelet ($40 each), Kate Spade Heart of Gold Bangle ($30), Roxanne Assoulin Little Letter in Love Set ($170)
