Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez are the dynamic duo I didn’t know I needed.
Today, the star-studded Met Gala took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Zendaya, 27, wore a stunning blue and green gown by Maison Margiela Couture, while J.Lo, 54, dazzled in a custom silver dress by Schiaparelli Haute Couture.
Planned or not, the twosome are channeling similar vibes as they pose together. The way Zendaya is leaning against the greenery background perfectly complements Lopez's confident pose. I can’t decide whether they resemble fabulous step sisters à la Cinderella or Capitol citizens from The Hunger Games.
Zendaya and J.Lo are serving as official Met Gala co-chairs alongside Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth and, of course, Vogue’s Anna Wintour. The honorary chairs are TikTok CEO Shou Chew and Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson.
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and the dress code is “The Garden of Time.” The exhibit includes 250 items spanning four centuries of fashion history, featuring designs by Schiaparelli, Dior and Givenchy.
According to the official website, the pieces are “visually united by iconography related to nature, which will serve as a metaphor for the fragility and ephemerality of fashion and a vehicle to examine the cyclical themes of rebirth and renewal. The exhibition will breathe new life into these storied objects through creative and immersive activations designed to convey the smells, sounds, textures and motions of garments that can no longer directly interact with the body.”
